WHISKY FOR AMERICA.

A SENSATIONAL STORY. SYNDICATE TO “RUN THE CUTTER.” (Received 8.20 p.m.) London, March 15.—According to a sensational report from Edinburgh, a powerful syndicate of the Scotch whiskey trade has been formed to run huge cargoes of spirits to the United States. One of the chief participants is declared to be a well-known Wall Street financier. Thirty ships will be employed. The syndicate has received an initial order for 100,000 cases, valued at £500,000. It is not known where such a quantity is procurable, because good Scotch was never scarcer than at present.—(A. and N.Z.)
