CADETS AND TERRITORIALS. UNDER SERVICE CONDITIONS. Trentham, March 15.—Following is the prize-list in the Army Championship Match:— King’s Medal, Challenge Belt and £lO.—A. J. Moore (permanent staff, Wanganui), 135. Gold Jewel and £7. —F. W. Ching (Trentham), 123. Silver Jewel and £6. —H. L. Frank (Nelson), 123. Bronze Jewel and £4.—A. Smith (Napier), 123. Ten others take £2, 20 take £l, and 20 take 10s. Trentham, March 15.—Eleven teams entered for the Lewis Gun match,. for teams of four. They advanced from 500 yards to 400, assembled the gun, firing 50 rounds at a target 10ft by sft, advanced to 300 and fired 50 more at the same tar get, and then advanced to 200yds and fired 50 at 10 falling iron plates. The result was:—
Lewis challenge trophy, silver medals, and £l2.—2nd Wellington Infantry Regt. 84. Bronze medals and £8. —2nd Otago Battalion (Gore), 83. £4.—lst Otago Battalion (Dunedin), 81. The Hotchkiss gun match, the same ranges and targets as for the Lewis, attracted four entries, and was won by the sth Otago Mounted Rifles, with 24 points, taking the Hotchkiss challenge trophy, silver medals, and £l2. The Bth Canterbury Mounteds (Nelson) were runners-up, with a score of 19.
There were three entries in the cadets’ teams match, for teams of eight, their scores being compiled from those made in the cadet championship practices. The winning team was from the Northern Command, with an aggregate of 1031, taking the C.A.C. challenge shield, silver medals for the members, and £B. The Central Command team were second with 1018, taking bronze medals and £4. (Eleven entered for the Vickers’ Machine Gun Match, advancing from 600 yards to 500, firing at a target five feet square, advancing to 400 and firing again, and making a final advance to 300 yards and firing at 10 iron plates. Result: — Vickers’ Challenge Shield, silver medals and £15 —2nd Battalion Otago Infantry, 63. Bronze medals and £lo.—3rd Battalion Wellington Infantry. £s.—lst Canterbury Mounteds, 28. CADET CHAMPIONSHIP. Champion Belt, gold jewel, and £6. —L. Shephard (Hamilton), aggregate 145. Silver Jewel and £4.—F. F. Ching (Hawera), 140. Bronze jewel and £3.—Perkins, Auckland, 136. £2.—R. G. Oak (Napier), 134. The tie between Gascoigne and Gavin, in the judging distance competition, was decided to-day, when Gavin won by 19 points to 16.
