SOUTH WAIRARAPA HEMS. (Our Travelling Reporter.) Members of the Carterton Football Chub will hold their annua! meeting on Friday evening. Mr Clem. Armstrong, of Papanui, Canterbury, called in at Greytown and Carterton yesterday to look up relatives and old fiends. He is on his way to Auckland. A meeting of ladies interested in promoting church work is called for Wednesday afternoon at St. Mark’s Sunday schoolroom, Carterton. Tho Wairarapa Electric Power Board has let its first contract for house-wiring, the successful tenderer being Mr Albert J. Parton, of Carter ton. The block is situated at Dabfield, and the price is in the vicinity of 34s per point. Other blocks will be let as arrangements peimit. Particulars arc advertised of the social and dance to be held in the Clareville Hall on Wednesday evening in aid of the Hall improvement fund. The Carterton Municipal Band played an enjoyable programme of music in Carrington Park on Sunday afternjcr., before a large audie.nie. The result of the Booth Cup (bowling) was decided on {Saturday, Car terton becoming possessors of the trophy by beating Park. Masterton were the runners-up. Mrs Peryman, of Carterton, is at tending the W.C.T.U. convention at Invercargill. Messrs B. Roberts and J. T. Bick nell represent the Wairarapa at a conference of the Dairy Farmers’ Union at Palmerston North to-day. The Carterton Bowling Club will be represented by four rinks at the Palmerston Eater tourney anti by one rinl at the Masterton and Nelson tourneys. Shareholders of tho Dalefield, Greytown and Featherston dairy companies are to meet next week on different days to discuss herd-test'.' g proposals. Directors of the Parkvale Dairy Company yesterday made an advance to suppliers of Is Id per lb for butter fat.
