BRITISH ZONE CUT OFF. A PROTEST FORWARDED. (Received 7.15 p.m.) Paris, March 9. —The French have completed a. new advan to, including a screen of troops between the British zone and the rest of Germany. Britain has protested to the French Government against the occupation of the territory between the Rhine bridge-heads in the interests of the Customs cordon. General Godley is now in London to discuss the position. —(A. and N.Z.) FRENCH EXECUTIONS DENIED. (Received £.15 p.m.) London, March 9.—A Dusseldorf Ynu’ssage says that General Degoutte denies categorically the al! .gations in 'regard to secret executions in the Ruhr. The “Daily Express’s” correspondent is unable to verify a single allo gat ion of French savagery. Three German civilians have been killed since January 15, each of which hap pening was officially reported.—(A. and N.Z.) TO STABILISE THE MARK. (Received 7.15 p.m.) London, March 9.—ln order to guarantee the Allies against a further drop in the mark and prevent in Austria’s organising to delay payments} in the hope of depreciation, the French have modified the Ruhr coal tax. —(A. and N.Z.)
