HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
FLOWER SHOW.
Attention is directed to the advertisement of the Masterton Horticultural Society, appearing on page 1, in connection the autumn show to be held next Wednesday. Visitors to town should make a point of visiting the show, as they are assured of a fine exhibition. The gardens are particularly gay just now with all classes of flowers. Exhibitors should note that there is a special prize for most points in cut flowers, and this in itself should attract a large number of entries. Afternoon tea will be provided in the tea room.
Intending exhibitors are reminded that entries close with the secretary to-morrow (Saturday), at 9 p.m. A meeting of the ladies’ committee was held in the secretary’s office yesterday afternoon, when final arrangements were made for the show. In addition to the classes already scheduled, a special prize of 10s 6d has been added for best pair of knitted socks (fingering). The following judges have been selected:—Pot plants and cut flowers, Mrs Frank Mason, of Feilding; decorative, Miss Murray, of Wellington ; fruit and vegetables, Mr A. Eddie, Pahiatua: home industries, Mesdames W. McKenzie and M. Meredith, Masterton; fancy work, Miss Cockerill; photography, Mr A. E. Winzenberg.
