HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, from the High Commissioner, dated Mar. 11: Meat. Stocks of old season’s mutton and lamb small, and with short supplies of new .season’s, demand continues good at firm prices. It is felt in some quarters that with larger immediate arrivals prices may weaken. Present quotations are:— New Zealand Mutton.—Old season’s: Light-weight, Mar. 11, 7:}d to 7:J'L, Mar. 4, 7£d to 7Jd; Feb. 25, 7|d to Medium-weight, Mar. 11, 6fd. Extri heavy-weight, Mar. 11, 6d. Now Zealand Lamb.—Old season’s Light-weight, Mar. 11, lOd; Mar. 4, 10Jd; Feb. 25, 10|d to lOfd. Heavyweight, Mar. 11, 9:}d. Mar. 4, Feb. 25, lOd. New season’s: North Island, Mar. 11, llfd to lljd; Mur. 4, lid to Is Ofd; Feb. 25, 114 d to Is. No Canterbury available. New season’s mutton not officially quoted, but for quantity available, *d per lb., more being obtained. New Zealand Beef.—No demand. Nominal quotations are:—Hinds, Mar. .11, 4 l-8d: Mar. 4, 4 l-8d; Feb. 25, 4d. Fores, Mar. 11, 2fd; Mar. 4, 2|d; Feb. 25, 3d. Argentine Chilled Beef.—Large supply. Market firm, with good demand, and sellers to-day asking higher prices; in cases of New Zealand up to 144 s per cwt. (Is 34d per lb.), but no transactions ye* reported at this figure. (lOfd'to lid per lb.); white, 96s to 102 s per cwt. (10M to lid per lb.). Feb. 25, coloured, 1 102 s to 104 s per cwt. (lid to 11.Jd per lb.); white 100 s to 104 s per cwt. (10£d to 11-Jd per lb.). Wool. Sales continue and with strong sup- i port from 'Home and foreign sections, bulk of’offerings selling, and values show improvement on opening; current rate being not more than par to 5 per cent, below January figures for both merino and crossbred. This week B.A.W.R.A. offerings have consisted of: Australian merino greasy, 5500 bales, scoured 2800 bales, crossbred greasy 3900 bales, scoured 1300 hales. New Zealand: Crossbred greasy .3400 bales, scoured 1000 bales, slipe 1150 bales. . Honey. Market very quite owing to arrival of foreign shipment of particularly good colour, and sales of New Zealand small at:White, 91s per cwt.; light amber prime, 85s to 90s pej? cwt. Eggs. Considerable increase in Home supplies, together wih recent large arrival of imported, has caused decline in prices. Present quotations are:— English, 18s to 19s; Irish, 17s to 18s; Danish, 17s to 21s; Dutch, 16s to 20s; Italian, 16s to 17s.
