King’s Trumpeter, the winner of the juvenile event at Napier Park, is a little performed bay colt by Clarenc- . eux—Bon Bord. He had started only twice, being unplaced at the Napier Park Spring Meeting, and third to Uncle Alox and Bumptious at the Hawke’s Bay Spring Meeting. The well-known hunter Scout, owned by Mr E. Short, of Feilding dropped dead while being ridden by a visitor. As a cross-country horse, Scout followed the Manawatu hounds for many years, and was until recently a very familiar figure in the ring events at many shows.
