The proposed trip to Sydney in the autumn has evidently been cancelled. Some years back Mr J. Gleeson imported from Victoria the Dunlop mare, Ealm and the Malua horse Haere. They vzeoe mated, the result being Vamoose. Ond of the latter’s descendants is Molleen Oge (Birkenhead —Kitty Mavourncen), who won in Mr Gleeson’s colours this season. Balm went into the Highden Stud and there produced Flamen, Highden, Monardo, Knutsford and others. One of her daughters by Gold Reef was named Amyris. with Bezonian the latter produced Amyrin. The last-named had a colt by Absurd which brought 600 guineas at the Wanganui sales recert ly. Besides winning a double at Gore ■ with Silver Peak, Mr W. Stone also won a race with (Salerno —Amarilla).

Salerno is a full brother to the Bien leim-owned In the Pink, and half >rother to Sunbath.

King’s Trumpeter, the winner of the juvenile event at Napier Park, is a little performed bay colt by Clarenc- . eux—Bon Bord. He is a first foal, his dam Bon Bord, being a seven-year-old mare by Boniform from the imported Ormolu, by Orme. He had started only twice, being unplaced at the Napier Park Spring Meeting, and third to Uncle Alox and Bumptious at the Hawke’s Bay Spring Meeting. The well-known hunter Scout, owned by Mr E. Short, of Feilding dropped dead while being ridden by a visitor. As a cross-country horse, Scout followed the Manawatu hounds for many years, and was until recently a very familiar figure in the ring events at many shows. In connection with the forthcoming Masterton meeting, Mr J. E. Henry* has decided not to re-handicap those horses which won at Nelson and Marlborough. THE A.J.C. MEETING.
