PARK CLUB. MATCH AGAINST CARTERTON. When the Park Club visited Carterton early in the season the match was abandoned owing to wet weather. Before cessation of play, however, Carterton had established a comfortable lead. The return visit was made on Saturday, when ideal conditions prevailed at the Park. The opening games of ladies’ and men’s singles gave Park a lead of 9 sets to 3. Carterton, however, predominated in ladies’ and men’s doubles, making the scores: Park 11 sets to 7. The combined doubles further improved Carterton’s position. At 5.30 the last set yvas in progress and the score stood: Park, 12 sets, 123 games; Carterton, 11 sets, 123 games. It was evident that on thg result of this last set depended the match. Excitement ran high, and every stroke was applauded or groaned at, according to the feeling of the barracker. C.
