AMERICAN SHIPPING POOL.

TO ABOLISH COMPETITION. VESSELS FOR AUSTRALIAN TRADE. (Received 7.25 p.m.) San Francisco, Dee. 29.—Mr Herbert Fleishhacker, a San Francisco capitalist, is discussing with steamship firms operating the United States Shipping Board’s vessels in the Pacific trade, a plan for the formation of a 30,000,000 dollar pool to purchase the vessels and abolish competition detrimental to American commerce.

It is understood that the Shipping Board will be asked to allocate 15 big liners for passenger and freight trade in the Far East, India, and Australia. The pool is arranging to buy these steamers on part time payment.—(A. and N.Z.)
