ALLEGATION OF HERESY.
AGAINST EX-N.Z. CLERGYMAN. (Received 7.25 p.m.) London, Dec. 30—The Bishop of Oxford has appointed a Commission to enquire into allegations of heresy against the Rev. H. D. A. Major, formerly of New Zealand. Replying to a letter by Canon Peter Green, of Manchester, the Rev. Mr Major said his view on the resurrection did not include the survival of any physical integument. Resurrection was a spiritual, not a physical event.— (A. and N.Z.) (The Rev. Mr .Major is a brother of Mr A. C. Major, of Mastorton. He graduated M.A. with first-class honours at Auckland University College, and afterwards took holy orders. He has been in England for the last 20 years, and has held important ecclesiastical posts, including his present one of principal of the Ripon Theological College at Oxford. He is also editor of the “Modern Churchman.”)
