GOVERNMENT OVERWHELMED PREMIER & SEVEN MINISTERS DEFEATED. (Press Association—Copyright.) (Received 8.50 p.m.) Ottawa, Dec. B.—-The final election returns show that the Liberals overwhelmed the Government, taking 121 scats, the Conservatives 53, the Farmers 58, and the Independents 2. The Premier (Mr A. Meiglien) lost his seat, together with seven other members of the Cabinet. Ontario, which is usually a Conservative stronghold, elected McKenzie King, the Liberal Cleader. Miss MacPhail, a Progressive, was electel for the South-west Grey district of Ontario. She is the first woman member of the House of Commons—(A. : nd N.Z.)
