THE N.S.W. STORM.

HISTORIC CHURCH DAMAGED. TWO MEN FROZEN TO DEATH. (Received 10.35 p.m.) Sydney, August 4.—Last night’s storm played havoc with the historic St. George’s Free Presbyterian Church in Castlereagh street. The upper portion of the tower, which is 120 feet high, canted and displaced pieces which smashed through the roof. The tower has a dangerous lean, and the street has been barricaded and tram traffic stopped. Gales, rain, and snow are causing extensive damage in the country. A teamster near Crookwell had his camp banked in by a snowdrift and he was frozen to death.

This is the second similar case at Crookwell, a half-caste being frozen to death a few da vs ago.—(A. and N.Z.
