IRISH SETTLEMENT.
SINN FEIN SILENT. GREAT SECRECY OBSERVED. London, Aug. 3.—There are some misgivings over the prolonged deliberations of De Valera’s Cabinet on Mr Lloyd George’s proposals. It wps hoped the Dail Eircann would be summoned this week to deal with the scheme, but this now appears to be unlikelv.
The utmost secrecy prevails over events in Dublin. Undoubtedly the British proposals entailed some communications between De Valera and tht Ulster political forces before a basis for an Irish Federal Constitution could be drafted. Possibly the absence of such conversations is accountable for the delay, or on the other hand De Valera may have found difficulty in composing the divergencies between the moderates and extremists with the Sinn Fein movement, especially in regard to dropping republican aspirations, for allegiance to the Crown.
