CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

MONTHLY MEETING. Tlic usual monthly meeting of the Masterton Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday afternoon, with Mr. J. Caselberg in the chair. There were also present: Messrs J. C. Cooper, A< D. Low, J. Allen, R. J. King, D. M. Graham, and A. S. Evans. Apologies were received from Messrs R. Brown, A. C. Major, R. H. Hill, W. Noble. The New Zealand Welfare League wrote in connection with a proposed conference between the representatives of Capital and Labour. The' Chamber decided to support the proposed conference. The chairman remarked that the aims of the Welfare League' were deserving of support, as it was trying to effect a settlement satisfactory to all sides. It was decided to obtain necessary information from the Post Office in connection with the telephone service from Wellington, and try is possible to reserve the second lino for the use of Masterton residents. This concluded the business of the mooting.
