TECHNICAL SCHOOL

MEETING OF MANAGERS. The Board of Managers of the Masterton Technical School met last night. Present: Messrs J. M. Coradino (chairman), J. W. Blackman, C. E. Daniell, and W. T. Grundy. Mr. E. G. Eton was absent on holiday, and Mr. A. W. Hogg on Education Board husiness. The chairman (Mr.. J. M. Coradine) reported that the purchase of tho corner site adjacent to the school, occupied by Messrs F. King and son, had practically been completed, and it was hoped to have the building vacated and necessary alterations to lighting, etc., carried out in time to accommodate the wool-sorting classes, which will commence on April 7. The meeting resolved, on the motion of Mr. W. T.'Grundy, to congratulate Messrs J. M. Coradine and C. s E. Daniell —the committee appointed by the managers to carry out the purchase —on having been so successful and expeditious in their negotiations with the owners, Messrs F. King and Son. It was resolved, on the recommendation of the Director,' that the large afternoon class in English and arithmetic (48 students), under Mr. Drummond, bo divided into junior and Benior sections, the senior section to i be taken by Miss O. Sutherland, M.A.; [also that assistance be given to Mr. | Hollings with the large aifternoon hook-keeping class (47 students). Tho attendance at the art, drawing, and painting classes was reported to . be tho best on record for the school—--41 class entries —and tho managers congratulated the teacher of the classes, Miss C. M. Beard, on the success of her work. " j Tho domestic science classes under j Miss R. Adams were also reported bo well attended —141 class enrolments* —and it was resolved to continue the services of Miss R. Wadham to assist with the large classes. Accounts amounting to £IOO lis Id were presented and passed for pay-! meat, subject to verification in the ca?:e of one large account.
