MUTTON AND LAMB.

A cable this morning indicates that a large quantity of Aystyalifm and New Zealand muttqn and lamb, is being placed upon the American market by the Imperial authorities. The effect of this transaction will be to relieve the congestion in Britain, and to strengthen the exchange with the United States. Nevertheless, it is somewhat disappointing to find that the market in England cannot relieve us of our surplus stores at reduced prices. It may happen that our mutton and lamb has stale, and has had to be sold at a considerable sacrifice. The outstanding fact, however, is that the congestion is being relieved, and that storage will be provided for this season's output.
