In the House of Commons, in opening a debate on our Russian policy, Sir Donald Mac Lean urged thai "Russia should be left to work out her own salvation. He declared that the policy of intervention had Tailed, and that the Bolsheviks were stronger than ever. H- also expressed the opinion that the spirit of resentment at foreign interference was awakening Russia, and our policy should be devised accordingly. He emphasised the point that our future in > India and the East depended largely on whether we,were able to pursue our mission there peacefully.
