A SERIOUS CHARGE
ALLEGED ASSAULT AND ROBBERY.
TWO MEN ARRESTED.
Two men named Joshua Teasdale and Vincent McKenzie were arrested in Masterton on Saturday on n charge of having assaulte done Francis W. Wesley, of Tinui, and robbed him of £SO. It is alleged that Wesley arrived from Tinui on Thursday last with a substantial sum of money in bis possession. . In the afternoon he proceeded to Carterton with the two accued in a taxi car. After having drinks there, they proceeded to Gladstone. On the to Masterton, Weßley alleges that he was struck on the head at Te Mhiti and rendered insensible. He wait then robbed of his money, and thrown out on to the road. When he recovered consciousness, he found himself at Mr Pike's house. Mr Pike rang up police, and as a result of inves'igations the j two arrests were made. Wesley had a black eye, but was not otherwise knocked 'about. The accused will be brought before the, Court in Masterton this morning.
