THE "X" DISEASE.
The outbreak in Australia of a new disease which, lor the time being, has been medically described as tlu> "X" disease, should cause the health authorities in Zealand to Gfr.tM* the utmost vigilance in order io .prevent the epidemic from reaching this Dominion. From the tneagre details ito hand, it; would seeifi that the disease has some of the characteristics of ccrebro-spinal meningitis. How it originated, and the means hy which it xs spread, are not yet known. It is certain, however, that the disease is highly , contagious, and that produces fatal effects. We do not want it in New Zealand, if we. can avoid it. Every precaution should, therefore, be taken by those, in authority.
