AMONG RETURN KD SOLDJERB. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Minister of Public Health made a. statement to-day regarding steps that will have to be taken by his department to deal with the large number of cases of tubercular diseases which are found to occur among returned soldiers. "The report received from the Public Health iDepartmeut," said Mr Russell, "shows that, up till January 31 at, 13.623 soldiers had returned to New Zealand. The number or phthisis cases among these men, including cases which had developm! after arrival of the men in New Zealand was 593. Of these 492 had developed the disease before their return here. There had been 42 deaths from tubercular disease. At 'ho present there are under treatment 148 of these men. It was evident that; a considerable increase in the number of consumptive sanatoria would have to be provided for the soldiers.
