DEFENCE EXPENDITURE
FIRST SITTING OF COMMISSION; (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Defence Expenditure Commission met to-day' to discuss preliminaries ;■ /i ■. ' The Commission is directed to enquire arid report on the financial, and economy of financial, • administration of the Defence Department and other departments acting with »t during the war,, 1 with reference..to; .the 101-. lowing matters 1 :—(1) Headquarters and other administrative branches of the service. (2) Methods of control or supervision of expenditure. (3) Pay and allowances of the defence force and of civilians Engaged in services in relation to the war. (4) Military stores, equipment, and supplies. (5) Military camps. ('6) Transport' of troops. (7) Hospital ships. Military hospitals. (9) Medical mid dental examinations, and treatment. (10) Military Service Boards. (11) All other matters anvolvints public expenditure for the puroosos of the nar, Tlie Commission has power to call and examine witnesses, and to call for documents atjd records. Its report is to be competed by June 80th.
