At th,e .Supreme; iCourjt. to-day Michael Carey, of tthe l6th ReinCc'rcements, who appealed in 'uniform, was found guilty of. manslaughter of Frederick William Al!en on July 14th, and was sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment. In passing sentence Mr Justice Denniston commented on -the fact that th«# prisoner liad unjustly endeavoured to lay the blame on the deceased. Iho prisoner wouT\i bo better fighting for his country than spending his days in gaol; but in regard to this he could only advise ilie 'prisoner's friends to apply to the Government for a remission of the sentence "s prisoner liad not been found guilty of. any moral turpitude.
