■By Telefjraph — Fress Association.) . WOODVILLE, Last Night. A conference of local bodies was held to-day, the delegates present being Messrs T. Hodgins (chairman. Pahiatua County Council), H. Burrell (OroTta), D. Hughes and/ Escott (Woodville County), H. Home (Mayor), and J. Harding (Woodville Borough). Mr 11. Dillon, engineer of ibe Pahiatua County also attended. The conference was convened by the Pahiatua Council, as the controlling )ody, to deal with the question of the Manawatu {Jorge Road. The delegates inspected the bridge, which the chairman said was in a decidedly bad state. It was resolved that the Pahiatua County Council obtain estimates for a new bridge in wood «.nd feiTo-concrete, or steel. It was also resolved that the conference support the Kairanga County's endeavour to nave the road taken over as a national road. A deputation is to wait on the Government next session. It was further decided that the Pahiatua County have & tally taken of the traifie on the Gorge Road in November and December, 1915, and January, 1916.
