REDISTRIBUTION OF SEATS.

SELECT COMMITTEE TO BE SET UP". (Received Last Night, 11 o'clock.) LONDON. March 5.

The House of Commons has agreod to Mr Edgar Jones' (Liberal) motion for a Select Committee to consider the question of the redistribution of scats.

Mr W. H. Long (Unionist) appealed to the Government to institute an independent enquiry, to prevent the present suggestion that they wore "gerrymandering" the constituencies.

The Right Hon. Herbert Samuel said the Government Avas Avilliug to appoint a Ministerial Committee if the Opposition would join in an effort to fornulate a fair scheme. He hoped to settle the question of redistribution of seats before the general election of 1915. ii Parliament ran its normal course.
