MAN FOUND DEAD

IN A MASTERTON'COTTAGE.

A single man named Thomas Jackson, aged 36 years, Avas found dead in a cottage off Dixon Street, Masterton, about -5.30 .o'clock yesterday morning. It appears that the deceased, Avho had been AAorking on the farm .of Mr. W. Reside, atStronvar, came to Masterton on Monday last. Ho lay down on the bed in the- cottage about 9 o'clock on Wednesday nipiht, fully dressed, and Avhen an attempt avhs made to awaken him early in the .morning; he Avas discovered to bo lifeless. Dr. Archer Hoskhig was summoned, but on his arrival he found death" had occurred some time previously. It is stated that tho young man had been drinking since lie came to Masterton. An inquest will be held this morning, before Mr. J. T. M. Homshy, District Coionei*.
