DISTRESSING FATALITY.
TWIN BOYS POISONED.
News reached Gisborne on Monday of a distressing fatality at Hangaroa, the twin sons of Mr P. Kenderdine having died from poisoning on Sunday evening. The two little boys, it appears, on Sunday obtained access to some tabloids containing strychnine, belonging to an employee of Mr Kenderdine's* and ate them, wrth fatal consequen-. ces. The tabloids were in a bottle in the tent occupied by the man. MKenderdine was on, his way to ..own, and had reached Mr Geoffrey's pla v>. when he was urgently recalled. In the bottle there "were about 60 _tabloids, . three of which were considered a dose for an adult. The bottle was empty, and the children must have taken abo ( ut 30 eacli. It was not the custom of the boys to go into the tent, and the bottle was lying in the occupant's bunk. The tabloids were taken about 6 p.m.) and the children died at 7.30. A distressing feature of the occurrence is that Mrs Kenderdine is at present ill in town, and it ia feared that the shock must be extremely severe to her. The Wo boys were .Mr and Mrs Kenderdine's only children. They, were bright little fellows, aged 2k years one named Geoffrey Richard, and the other Phillip Besson, and were great favourites. Deep sympathy: will be felt for the parents.
