SPORTING NOTES.

FIXTURE September 25 and 27.—Wanganui J.C. Spring. October 4.—Napier Park Racing Club Spring. October 4, 6, and 11.—A.J.C. Spring. October 8 .and. 11.—Dunedin J.C. Spring. October 16. Mastorton R.C. Spring. (By "Also Started.") Nominations for all events at the Mnsterton Racing Club's spring meeting (excepting the Trial Stakes) close with the secretary, Mi' A. Hathaway, on Friday, 26tli inst. A most attractive programme has boen decided on by the Woodville Jockey Club for its summer meeting, which takes place on December 10th and 11th, 1913. The Woodvilfe Handicap, run on the first day, is endowed with £2AO, and the Summer Handicap, run on the first day, has 100 sovs. attached, and the Railway Handicap, on the ■second day, is similarly endowed. In the remaining events, which include two hurdle races, owners are well catered for. The meeting should bo quite as successful as the meetings' of this club in previous years. Trainer G. Neich has a team of four horses in commission at Clareville, and all look in nice condition. Suratura... (Saracen-Waitura) is the only horse that has raced previously, and since last season she has thickened out a good deal. Her full brother, a three-year-old gelding, is an , exceptionally well-grown sort, and must be one of the biggest horses in commission in the district. He will be known on the race tracks as Amber. Tip's. A three-year-old Vnesfout filly by Achilles—Merry Maider., occupying the adjoining box, has already shown that she is possessed of a good turn of spaced. She was bred by the late Mr J. Cotter, of Greytown. A chestnut gelding by Conqueror from Rose . showg plenty of quality. As a. side line to training, Neich is working up a lucrative business with his "Lixem" liniment, which is in great demand by leading tj-ainers. •Huia and Iliad's Hero were double winners at Otaki. The former has not been up very long; Which adds to ' the value of the performance.

Lord Renown made hacks of the opposition in the Dominion Handicap at Otaki, and paid a surprisingly good dividend, considering that he ran second in the big race at Marton only two weeks agp. Undecided has been a great stakeearner, and his win at Otaki yesterday with -9.0 in the saddle indicates that he is verv well forward.

Big fields were the order of the day at the Otaki meeting.

British Maid (Merrie England— Waitura) succumbed a few days ago as the result of a kick from another horse. She -was a fairly successful stake-winner in her time. It was the intention of her owner td put her to the stud this season, and had chosen the Australian bred horse Sylvanite as her consort. It is rather a coincidence that both horses should bo numbered amongst the defunct within a short time of each other.

The acceptances for the Wanganui Club's spring meeting have not filled, as well as might be expected. The Guineas has a field of five, and favouritism will lie between the select of the Reid stable and Bonny Helen. Quito* a number of New Zealand Cup candidates will be seen out at Wanganui, which will add to the interest attached to the fixture.

New Zealand horses had a day out at Rosehill on Saturday, being rather a set-back for those critics on the other side who are strong in the opinion that Australian horses are much superior to those of the Dominion. Only five jumpers have been paid up for in the open hurdles at Wanganui.

The Tarafcalii-Carterton Racing Club will include a couple of trotting events on the programme of its Boxing Day meeting. Each race will be worth £SO and decided over one mile, and one and a-half miles.

Mt. Victoria l * broke ai long list of ''outs" bv getting on the winning list at Otaki.* .

Roosevelt and Immer were two very hot orders that came undone at Otaki.

Mira was running on well in the Dominion Handicap at Otaki. The grey horse should soon strike winning form. Hilarian is winning out in his owner's paddock at Clareville. It is probable thai; the San Fran gelding will be put into commission shortly.
