Miss Ursula Elder, of "Wellington, is spending a few weeks with Mrs Barton, of Mataikona. Mr and Mrs Allan Cameron are staying with Mrs Cameron's mother, Mrs Meredith, of Llandatt". Mrs Cruickshank, of Laiisdowne, has Miss Russell, of Wellington, and Miss Thompson, of Sydney, staying there. Mrs Wilson, who has been staying with Mrs Baird, pf Sol way, returns to Wellington to-day, and Miss Wilson, who has also been spending the week end there, returns to Carterton today. The friends of Mrs Jago, senr., will be sorry to hear that she is again in a very low state of health.
Nurse Pinkerton, Masterton, who has been staying with Mrs Daken, at Miki Miki, for a few weeks, has returned home.
Mrs Roy Tankersley, Whakarun, is visiting, her mother, Mrs T. Wveth, of Miki Miki.,
A huge success was the plain and fancy dress ball held in Mr T. Wyeth's wool shed at Miki Miki on Thursday evening, about forty'couples being present, including visitors from Palmerston North,: Eketahuna, Kaiparoro, Whakarua, Bangitumau, Lansdowne and Masterton. The deoorations were most elaborate and effective. Messrs Wyeth, Johansen and Tankersley wero courteous M.C's. Music was* supplied by Mr C. Yolheim (Masterton), and extras were played by Messrs N. Wyeth and M. Welch. Prizes were given by Mesdames S. and N. Wyeth. for the best fancy dresses of lady and gentlemen. Miss M. Forman was awarded the lady's prize and Mr M. Welch the gent's. Among the fancy dresses were:—Miss Moss. Shamrock.;- ' Mrs L. Hunt, Patch Work; Miss Cane, Japanese Lady; Misa Wyeth, Dutch Girl; Miss M. Campbell, Safety Matches; Miss Nicholson, Folly; Miss L. Wyeth, Flower Girl; Miss. M. Forman, Spanish Dancer; Miss Blatchford, Indian Lady; Miss ■). Campbell, Red, "White and Blue; Miss A. Anderson, Old English Lady, Mrs W. Tarikersley, Gran' Ma;. Mr L. Welch, Highlander ; Mr W. Tankersley, Sailor Boy ; Mr E. Johansen, Cricketer; Mr M. Welch, Rats. During the evening Mr Payton, in a neat speech, presented Mr and Mrs T. Wyeth with a handsome solid silver tea service and silver-mounted oak tray, for kindly lending their wool-shed free of charge on every occasion. Mr Wyeth suitably replied on behalf of himself and Mrs Wyeth. The present was given by the residents of the district.
