SYDNEY MAN FINED £3O. ' FOR FAILING TO REPORT. (Received Last Night, 8.5 o'clock.) SYDNEY, August 19. The first prosecution arising out off the smallpox epidemic " has bsen heard, in which a man was fined £39 for failing to report that his son mm affected, DISEASE SPREADING. THIRTEEN FURTHER CASES. Received This Morning, 1.10 o'clock*. SYDNEY, August 19. Thirteen cases of smallpox are reported to-day. It is not known definitely whet&csr the Balranald case is smallpox. It is feared that the disease at working its way north, it being reported at a late hour that a girl, «f eleven is suffering from a suspicaooag: illness at Tamworth. A mild case ia reported at Ooota*mundra. The cases reported from Onewherct yesterday were found, on investigation, to bo cases previously reported. "The District Health Officer ti Wellington (Dr Chesson) reports having removed to the isolation hospital,, Wellington, last night a sailor frank the s.s. Delphic, who was recently a resident at the Sailors Home, Auckland. The s.s. Delphic has been dered into quarantine, and eteps have been taken and are being continued to insure the vaccination and surveillance of all contacts with this case. Steps have also been taken to investigate any suspicious illness In the Sailors Home, Auckland."
