THE MONEY MARKET.
The 4©oal ! money market shows very little' sign of any tendency to ease, Simply .of funds available; Jar investment of alt kinds remains very restricted; (states the New Zeahn'd Trade Review). The value of our exsports has been very well maintained so far, and the prices realised arc generally very satisfactory. For the year .to March 31st the'total of exports constituted a record, the increase over ,the previous year bitting £3,640,000. Fhr the nine weeks since then there L a further increase of £39,000,' and/the funds from, the realisation of these exports are coming in to -assist the money markets. On the other hand, our imports are still maintaining' a very high' level, which does not show any sign of reduction, and this means calls- on the.' fmids of the banks for finanoing them. The ever-increasing trade of: tlie Dominion requires increased' capital for all the various trades and enterprises, and constitutes a continual call on the general supply of funds.
