ißy Telegraph. — Press Association.)

TIMARU, Last Night. • The Supreme Court was occupiejd for most of the day in the hearing of a charge of manslaughter against C. H. Bealey, over the collision between his car and a cyclist named Percy Dickson, a postal officer, on April Ist. The prosecution alleged that the accused was on the' wrong side of the road when he met the cyclist. The defence denied this, and asserted that the cycHst was on the wrong side, and that the car was swerved to the_right to avert a collision. The cyclist also turning off, the collision occurred. The jury, after a long retirement, returned a verdict that the accused was guilty of an error in judgment, but not of culpable negligence. The judge said that meant, an acquittal.
