MONTHLY MEETLNG. . The monthly meeting of the Maetertou. Racing Club was held on Sa-t----urday afternoon, there being present —Messrs'C.F. Vallance (chairman)', Frcxl'Dorset, A. .Welch, .H. Douglas, J. -WJiittaker, P. Morrison, "X. B. Moodie, A. G. Pilmer, 0. C. Cooper, W. Cooper and R. Buiek. The secretary of the New Zealand Country Racing Clubs wrote "forwarding a report of 'the meeting of the executive. —Received.. The secretary of the New Zealand! Racing Conference wrote referring to the duties of the stipendiary stewards and also the names of those appointed to the position. Mr Arthur Paape, .secretary of thd N.Z. Sports Protection League wrote stating that a meeting of the League would .be. held in Masterton on -February .'l9th, for the purpose of forming a branch in Masterton. It was decided that Mr C. F. Vallance be appointed to act in conjuno* tion -with Mr D. Logan in convening r ar'meetin-g -for.,that;date*_'. ; I *~ Messrs' Welch aiidTHope wrote' asking for a progress payment for altera* '■'tioiis made to thetotalizator house,— .Granted. ■•'•;■'. The programme; committee brought down a report, and stated that it recommended stakes amounting to* £l3lO for the ensuing meeting. Mr Harrison said he would like to setvtbe Masterton Cup endowed with £2OO. 'Mr Vallance said he thouglrb ffe would he better to have the hack events better endowed. . He did not think that if the Cup were raised to £2OO it would result in any more nominations, being received. On the motion of Mr Pilme-r, seconded by Mr Moodie, it was decided* that the programme as submitted 1 by the programme committee be adopted. The treasurer a debiv- l>aloiico of £661. 9s 7d.
