MASTERTON RACING CLUB.

MEETING OF STEWARDS. The Stewards of the Masterton Racing Club met on Saturday afternoon. There were present:—Messrs C. F. Vallani-e (chairman), P. Caselberg, R. BuicK, 0. C. Cooper, J. Cress, J. lorns, A. J. Welch, C. H. Smith, A. G. Pilmer, C. A. Pownall, D. McLachlan, W. Cooper. The resignations as members were accepted from Messrs T. G. Mason and H. S. Wardell. The question of fixing the book makers' fees for the coming meeting was briefly discussed. Mr Pownall was in favour of imposing the full limit allowed by law, but other members were inclined to the opinion that if this were done rings would be formed among the bookmakers, and only two or three would cay the fees and do business on behalf of the others. Eventually it was decided to make the fees the same as obtained at the spring meeting, namely, £ls 10s for bookmaker and clerk per day for lawn, and £lO 10s for the outside inclosure. A lptter was read from Mr S. Noble-Campbell recommending the club to put the catering arrangements regarding afternoon tea on a more satisfactory footing than at last meeting.—The communication ( was "received." The Chairman, and Messrs Macara and McLachlan, were appointed to fix the reserves for the saleß of privileges. Catering arrangements were next discussed, it being Anally decided to leave the matter in the hands of a catering committee composed of Messrs Caselberg, 0. C. Cooper, Pownall and the Chairman. Gate charges were altered for the coming meeting to Is admission to the outside inclosure and 7s 6d for the lawn. Messrs Caselberg and Smith were appointed stewards to supervise the bookmakers betting on the course. The other officials appointed were the same as for last meeting.
