Mr and Mrs G. W. Deller, of Carterton, intend paying a visit to England, and will leave on April 22nd next. Miss M. P. Gray, daughter of Constable Grey, of Eketahuna, has been appointed pupil teacher at the Eketahuni School. Our Tmui correspondent states that Mr Jack Green, a very old identity, and a member of the 6-ith Regiment, died on Sunday last at Whakataki. Mrs Charles p barazyn and children of Peatherston have returned home after spending a month at Sea View House, Castlepoint. ■ Mrs Wardell, of Te Whiti, an.i children, returned home on Monday after spending a week at Castlepoint, writes our correspondent. It has been decided by the Bank of New South Wales to close its branch at Waipawa, and in consequence of this decision Mr A. E. Rhind, the accountant at Waipawa, is to take up temporary quarters in Wellington. A Press Association telegram states that on Monday night he was entertained by the townspeople of Waipawa, and presented with a purse of sovereigns. An Oamarj Press Association t-legram states that at a meeting of representatives of school committees, past and present, teachers, and ex -pupils, it was decided to perpetuate the memory of Mr James Lindsay, late headmaster of Oamaru North School, by means of a tablet and portrait oil painting. A strong committee was appointed to carry out the project. Mr Lindsay had filled the position of headmaster for thirty years, Mr E. Pragnell, who has been appointed secretary of the Masterton Druids' Ludge in succession to Mr G. E. A. Hood, was for several years minute secretary, treasurer and acting-secretary of the local Foresters' Lodge, and also holds the position of secretary of the Masterton Municipal Fire Brigade. In these capacities he did or is doing valuable work, and his latest appointment in the Druids' Lodge is a well-merited one.
