In connection with the offer made to trade.unions connected with shipbuilding by Sir Christopher Furness, head of the firm of F irness, Withy and Co., shipbuildr to, to sell to them the firm's sh jyards at Hartlepool, or admit them to co-partner-ship, provided they give a pledge not to strike, Sir Christopher offers the men one year's trial of the scheme.
