HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Industries and Commerce bus received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dyted London, August 15th:— The multon market is steady; there is not much demand, but prices are firm. '1 here is a scarcity of prime quality mutton. The following are the current quotations:— Light weight, Canterlury 4&d, North Island 33d; heavy weight, Canterbury 3fd North Island 3Jd per lb. The lamb market is quiet, with a moderate bus ; nesa doing; there is a dull sale for fnavy carcases, but a good demand for light weigh's. There is no change in prices to report. The beet market is firm, with more enquiry, at d small supplies are coming forward. Hindquarters are quote:! at 4Jd, forequartera at 3Jd per lb. The butter market is steady, and prices are well maintained. Choicest j New Ztalar.d brands are quoted at 116 a per cwt nominal; Danish, 1225; Siberian, 10!)s per cwt. The cheese market is firm, with an upward tendency. New Zealand white makes are quoted at 6is, coloured at {,9s 6d per cwt.
