THE NAVAL AGREEMENT.
MR DEAKIN SPEAKS OUT.
Received July 7, 10.4 a.m. MELBOURNE, July 7. The Federal Prime Minister, Mr Deakin, cannot understand the cabled references by Mr Lambert, Civil Lord of the Admiralty, to the naval arrangement. Australia, he. said, had given the Admiralty everything that appeared necessary, and was only too glad to supply more. The complexity complained of must be through the Admiralty's own regulations and methods.
In the House of Commons recently, Mr G. Lambert, lvplying to Mr W. Redmond, said that the naval ar• rangement between Great Britain and the Commonwealth had not yet been concluded. The subject was exceedingly complex, and the Australian scheme required much amplification.
