MONTHLY COMPETITIONS

The monthly competitions of the Opaki Quoits Club were held, on Saturday last, at Mr Searle's farm, Te Mara. There was a large attendance of members, and an enjoyable afternoon was spent. Twenty ladies competed for Mr D. McKenzie's trophy, which, after a spirited contest, was won by Miss Mrs B. Duckett being second. The men 'played two matches. The; first was won by Mr B. Chamberlain, with Mr McKenzie second and Mr H. Christensen third. Mr B. Chamberlain also won the second match, Mr T. Chamberlain being second and Mr Nicholson third. The final round for Mr Payton's trophy was won by Mr H. Daken. During the afternoon Mr Nicholson presented the trophies which had been previously won. To Mrs S. Tankersley he presented Mr R. Hunt's trophy, and to Miss Foreman he presented MrsT. Dew's trophy. The following art; the drawings for the first round of the competition for Mr A. McLeod's trophy:—H. Tankersley scr, Tunnicliffe 8 plays P. Stavenson 10, Reader 8 plays Searle owes 17, R. Hunt owes 7 plays T. Chamberlain 1, Daken a bye.
