CONFERRED ON MISS FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE. | I Received December 1, 4.8 p.m. I LONDON, November 30. His Majesty the King has conferred the Order of Merit on Miss Florence Nightingale, who is the first Judy member to receive the Order. (Miss Florence Nightingale was the organiser of nursing in the field during the Crimean War. She proceeded to Crimea in 1854, where she did excellent work in nursing sick and wounded soldiers. A testimonial of £50,000 was afterwards presented to hsr, and this slhe devoted to establishing the Nightingale Home for the training of nurses.)
