THE BRITISH RAILWAY TROUBLE.
COMPANIES ARRANGING A STRIKE TIME-jIABLE. Received October 20, 3.22 p.m. LONDON, October 19. Mr D. Lloyd George, President of the Board of Trade, has invited the chairmen of tho principal railways to privately and informally discuss with him the whole situation in connection with the present trouble. Mr Lloyd George declares that he is not acting under any powers which the Conciliation Act confers on the Board of Trade. The companies are arranging a strike time-table. The Great Western Railway Company have issued a circular asking the clerks whether they intend to remain loyal in the event of a strike, and whether they are prepared to undertake duties outside their grade.
