By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, July 29. An old wood and iron building in Glen Road, Caversham, used as a fellmongery and mat factory, was burned down yesterday. It is assumed that the fire was caused by means of sparks from a boiler, which were communicated to scraps of wool lying about. The insurances on the building total £350, on the stock and plant £3OO, and on the machinery and contents £ls0 —all in the Alliance Assurance office. Dawson and M'Kechnie's sawmill at Ratanui, burned down on Friday, was uninsured. The loss is estimated at £4OO. TIMARU, July 29. Between seven and eight o'clock last night a house at St. Andrews, occupied by Constable Fitzgerald, was completely destroyed by fire. No one was at home at the time. The constable left his home at seven o'clock, when thei-e was no sign of fire, but at eight o'clock the house was destroyed. Incendiarism is suspected. The house was insured in the Royal office for £275, and the furniture with the New Zealand office for £IOO. The constable estimates his loss at £l5O.
