THE MANUKAU ELECTION.
MR LANG RETURNED.
MAJORITY OB' 1,235. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, Deoembor 6. The Manukau eleution passed off quietly to-day. The result (with one small return to oome, which naunot affect theresuit, but will probably increase Mr Lang's majority) is as followtf:— F. W. Lang (Opposition) ..] 2,501 G. Ballard (Government) ... 1,266 Majority for Mr Lang, 1,235. The figures for the 1905 general election were: —> Mr Kickbride, 2,977; Mr Stewart, 2,334. Mr Massey made, a short speech thanking the electors far returning an Oppositionist, and a freeholder. The tremendous majority showed what the electors thought of the leasehold proposals of the Government. The eleotion would have a wonderful influence in the oouusels of the oountry in connection with the land proposals.
