IN SEARCH OF HIDDEN TREASURE.
Received August 14, 9.44 p.m. LUNDON, August 14.
The crew of tbe gsieamer Maima that is to proceed to an unnamed island, off the coast of Africa, in search of diamonds, numbers 45, oomposed largely of naval reserves. Gas engines, mining implements and washing plant have been shipped at Cardiff, and also a large staff of engineers.
Tha voyage is. expected to last six months.
(A cablegram received f*om London on August 11th stated that some diamonds which were reported to have been found on an island were shown to Mr William Griffith, late manager of the de Beers mine, by a seafaring 'friend, who subsequently died. Before death the man gave Mr Griffith full particulars as to the location of the treasure island. Many influential personages are interesting themselves in tho project, nojfewer thau twenty peers and eight judges being among the shareholders).
