MASTERTON RACING CLUB.
MEETING OF STEWARDS. A meeting of the Stewards of the Masterton Racing Club was held on Satuiday. There were presentMessrs 0. A. Pownall (uhairman), J lorns. J. Maoara, J. Cress, A .J. Welch, 0. H. Smith, D. MoLaohlan, and W. Coopur. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs 0. F. Valiance, W. Piatt, W. D. Watson and fi. Buiok. The Wellington Kaoing Club wrote forwarding jockeys 1 licenses for A. E. Frost, B. Oliiver, T. Carroll, A. ; Watson, F. Wood, au'd R. Aruott, aud trainers' licenses for F. Matthews, R. Knox, W. Garratt, M. McGrath, and R. J. Marr. Some of *.he applications, recommended by the Masterton Club have not yet been granted, aa the Wellington Racing Club required further information concerning the afiplicants. Mr A. Wood, of Greenmeadows, wrote offering his servioes as starter to the club. The letter was received. The programme for the Spring Meeting, as submitted by the Programme Committee, showing an increase in the stakes of £135, was adopted. The following officials were appointed on the same terms as last season :~Judge, Mr W. H. Hartgill; handicapper, Mr J. H. Pollock; starter, Mr T. Cameron. Drs A. Hosking and P. R. Cook wore appointed hon. surgeons to the clab, and Mr W. G. Taylor hon. veterinary surgeon. The Seoretary was requested to write to the Wairarapa Racing Club for information regarding the scales used by the club. Th« Seoretary intimated that the president (Mr C. F. Vallanoe) had informed him that Mrs Valiance would again present a gold-mountod whip to the rider of the winder of .the Ladies' Bracelet Handicap at the coming meeting. It was decided' to renew the printing contract with the Wairarapa Age for the coming season.
