NIREAHA NOTES.

(Prom Our Own Correspondent). Wednesday. Mrß E. M. A. Mason haß purchased from Mr Geo. Edwards his 200-acre farm on the Managtainoka River; Mrs Mason's husband owns the neighbouring farm. Mr Mason has purchased Mr Edward's selected dairy herd of 30 cows. Mr Drysdale has obtained the right from the Land J Board to mill 37 «or«s of the Forest Reserve here. He has, also, obtained a right-of-way for three years for LiSjtraraway through the sections. On Monday, July 30th, a meeting -of the Nireaha Branch of the Karm<ers' Union was held in the Public Hall. Mr Kedpath occupied tbe •ohair. The members present were:— Messrs T. 15. Mason, Berry, Albretbsaii, 0. Lareen, I!. Larßen, J. Daysh, MoKenzie, Gunderson, ChnstenseD, Davidson, Nbwcombe, Bowyer, W. Mason. The Branch agreed to write to Mr Hogg protesting against the Dropoaal to cut up the Reserve in five to twenty acre sections, and asking the Government to oni the Reserve up into not lies than fifty-acre blocks. Mr T. B. Mason rend an interesting paper on the dairying industry. Mr F. Dowden was elected a member of the Branch. The half-yearly meeting of the Nireaha Co-operative Store was held on Monday night. The turnover for tbe past six months was £1,149, an •increase of £137 over the previous six months. An up-to-date residence costing £27~0 was built beside the storp. Mr Nurdell retired from the directorate, and Mr Albreothsen wbb appointed to replace him. It is reported that Mr A. F. Maude baa resigned from the position of manager of oar local cheese faotory. Suppliers will learn this with regret as during the past year the Company has done particularly well. Tbe annual tneetiug of the Company will probably be held in the beginning of September. On Satuurday last a match was to have been played between the Hamua football team and tbe NireabE team, at Nireaha. gHowever, the Hamua team did turn up.
