ANNUAL REPORT. """" The following ia the annual report of the Ma9terton Gymnasium and Physical Training School, to be presented at the annual meeting of members on April 10th;— Ladies and Gentlemen, Your Committee has pleasure in submitting for your approval the fifth annual report and balance-sheet. The work of the season was extremely good, although the classes were not as well attended as in the previous season?, and the falling off in membership was especially noticeable in the ladies' class; but the prospects look brighter for next season. We regret thPt the credit balance, £8 17s, as per sheet, is not as large as your Committee might have anticipated, but we would draw attention to the fact that this shows an irn provement of £26 18b 5d on last year's results. Mr A. H. Jewiss has been re-engaged for this ooming season as Instructor, and it behoves all members to do their utmost to increase the membership, thereby ensuring the success the classes deserve, and, also, to assist the Instructor by regular attendance. t The aunual competition between the Masterton and Wellington ladies did not take place on account of the inability of your committee to make satisfactory arrangements with Wellington. The usual club competitions were held at the ead of { the season, and were very keenly I contested. Miss Olive Wintriugham was successful in securing' the La- 1 dies' Championshp, and Mr A. C. Williams the Men's. Mr T. S. Ronaldson, of Wellington, kindly acted as judge, and gave enitre satisfaction. The annual display, one night only, was held in the Towu Hail, on October sth, and proved a financial suocess, the nett proceeds amounting to £ls Is Bd. The work was all round excellent, especially that of the Ladies' and Maid's Classes, ana reflects great credit on J your Instructor. The School was unfortunate in losing two such valuable members as Messrs J. K Carpenter and C. Gawith, and, also, several others, who will be missed by the Club. The thanks of the Club are due to the following gentlemen who presented trophies for competition The Rev. Dean McKeuna, Messrs W. G. Beard, D. K. Logan, G. H. Perry, W. B. Chennells, J. G. Eliott,- C. D. Kine, W. H. Cruicfa;ahank, and A\ Henderson, and, also, to Mr W. G.
