MASTERTON A. AND P. SHOW.
AWARDS IN BEST SHOP BULLOCK GLASS. In the olass "best shop bullock," at the recent Masterton and P. Show, the conditions were that prizes should,, be awaided- for the animals when judged alive on Show day, and that further prizes would he awarded on their being killed and judged in Wellington. At the Show the judge was Mr Jae. Mr Frank Moore was awarded first place. Mr W. Mace second, and Messrs W. and H. Beetham were unplaced. In Wellington the judges were Messrs E. H. Brown, E. D. Barber, and the Gear Meat Ootnpany, and the awards were: Mr Frank Moore first, Messrs W. and H. Beetham second, and Mr W. Mace third. The judges, in their report, state that the winner was easily first. The beast was of excellent quality, and would prove a profitable beast to a butcher, as it had a very small proportion of coarse meat and was very light in bone. It was full of meat; not too fat, and dressed a beautiful colour. Altogether it was an admirable bullock. Regarding the second bullock, the report is that the animal died a bad oolour, and had faded in condition. If its colour had not been bad, it would have been a shop bullock of a quality on a par with that which is supplied daily to the trade by; the wholesale butohei's. It was in no sense a show bullock. The third bullook was altogether too heavy for the retail butcher, who does not buy alive. It was or . good quality, and, notwithstanding its weight, was not too gross.
