Mr George Ryland, M.L.A. for Gympie, Queensland, is now touring this colony. He travels ou tbe steamers in the steerage, and ou the railways seoond class. Ou being asked why he did so, he replied he diked to travel with his own people, and he did not represent those who went first-class. Besides he came to see the "real" New Zealand. He had found the country bright, and the people appeared to be and prosperous.
