SILVERSTREAM SUNDAY SCHOOL.
On Saturday last, July 9, the eighteenth anniversary of St. Margaret's Sunday School (Silver- j stream) was celebrated. The ! scholars sat down to an attractive j tea at 5 p.m., after which games were indulged in until 7 p.m., when I the public meeting was commenced. ; The Superintendent (Mr. A. P. Godber), presided in the absence of the Rev. G. W. Hunt, who has gone away for a time, but best wishes were received from him. The balance-sheet, which was presented by Ross Carson, showed a large credit balance, and together with the Annual Report presented by Mr. F. A. Goodland, Secretary, were adopted. The report showed a slight increase in the teaching staff and also scholars. The sum of £l/7/3 was contributed to the Maori Missions during- the year. Mrs. M. Gard presented prizes to the following : Diligence: M. Stringer, L. Stringer, F. MacKay-Campbell, M. Eckersley, B. Eckersley, B. Osborne. Scripture Tests: F. MacKayCampbell, and B. Eckersley. Special Attendance: M. and L. Stringer, L. Shaw, F. Gouden. Frances MacKay-Campbell received a special acknowledgment from an anonymous person for her work in the school interests. The annual competition for Scripture reading was won by the boys. Miss Joy Castle, on behalf of past and present teachers and pupils, presented Mr. and Mrs. Godber with small gifts in appreciation of their long service to the Sunday School. During the evening the Misses Betty and Marjorie Eckersley entertained those present with a Maori game named Ti-Rakau.
