HOSPITAL NEWS.
A special meeting of the Wellington Hospital Board was held last week to consider a report of the Royal Commission on the Board's building proposals. The Chairman explained that the purpose of the meeting was to receive the report and consider what action should be taken. The Board, after receiving the report, decided to refer it to the Building Committee. Mr. F. Castle suggested that to expedite discussion at the Board table that the whole Board be constituted as a Building Committee. The Building Comittee is arranging that they meet at least once a week from now onward to deal with the building proposals and the increased bed accommodation which is so urgently required. The Superintendent reported that this week there were over 820 patients occupying beds. The Upper Hutt residents will be pleased to know that the Commission, in their report, stressed the necessity of a hospital in the Hutt Valley. The Superintendent (Dr. A. R. Thorne) accompanied by our local representative (Mr. J. Purvis) paid a visit this week to Upper Hutt to look into the requirements of Upper Hutt and district.
